This year, Wavelength continued the quarterly tradition of Style Spotlight, and for this installment I took on more of the responsibility of the planning and organizing the event—as this was my second spring Style Spotlight. Though it’s a bit of a cliché that spring is a season of change, I truly felt the shifting of not only the season, but the staff, as it was the last Style Spotlight with the Wavelength staff I joined last spring.
Every quarter, taking photos for this project allows me the opportunity to notice the trends across time. It’s interesting to see how people change and transform the way they present themselves through the seasons, but what’s less often considered is what remains consistent. While each season of Style Spotlight tracks the cycle of shedding and redeeming our layers as the days lengthen and then grow shorter once again, the things that we choose to consistently keep on us is where I find our identities lie. It’s why I love to see familiar faces returning to each edition of Style Spotlight—I get the chance to discover these small but certain qualities time and time again.
As always, if you had your picture taken, thank you—this would not have been possible without everyone who participated. And, of course, thank you to the Wavelength staff for support in achieving the event.
